Everything is going in accordance to the Department of Education set schedule, with the recent Second Quarter Examinations of students being concluded last October 19-20 despite the two-day cancellation of classes due to the nationwide transport strike.
Meanwhile, the students can enjoy their semestral break from October 23 with class resuming on November 2 to give way to All Saint’s Day. The long break will also serve as a time to evaluate individual teachers and their collective performance.
The In-Service Training (INSET) activities for teachers’ professional development shall also be conducted. An additional day for Instructional Materials (IM) preparation shall also be observed. Parents and guardians may get their children’s report cards on October 28 simultaneously with the Parent-Teacher Conference.
Private schools may schedule their semestral break differently than the prescribed calendar of DepEd granted that they would be able to complete the set length of school calendar. They should also notify their respective regional offices (ROs) for any deviation from the school calendar.
According to DepEd Department Order 25, schedule for the semestral break is as follows;
OCTOBER 19 – 20 : Second Quarter Examinations
OCTOBER 23 – 27 : Start of Sembreak In-Service Training for Teachers
OCTOBER 28 : Distribution of Report Cards and 3rd Parent-Teacher Conference
OCTOBER 30 : Instructional Materials (IM) preparation
OCTOBER 31 : Additional Special Holiday
November 1 : All Saint’s Day (Special Non-Working Holiday)
November 2 : Resumption of Classes
A career guidance program is also expected to be conducted between July and November 2017 to guide Grades 9, 10 and 11 students in making informed choices on their preferred Senior High track.
